The Wall Street Journal says the theatrical business has pretty much avoided the recession. Box office receipts for the year are down .9%, with the gross over $9.5 billion. That’s the good news.The bad news is that the number of tickets sold is actually down 5% for the year. Higher ticket prices made up the difference.
