Diamond: Rethinking the TV-Theatrical Compromise
In an unusually pessimistic new post, Steven Diamond calls the force majeure compromise in the proposed TV-Theatrical deal “risky.” Diamond says the new SAG leadership underestimated the seriousness of the AMPTP and seemed unprepared for the producers’ ploy of a three year contract, which would have taken SAG out of sync with other unions.
Diamond’s unusally pessimistic post is worth a click, especially for Membership First partisans who will love his labelling as “a clear constitutional violation” the portion of the National Board’s assent which stripped Alan Rosenberg of the authority to speak on behalf of SAG. (By the way, we think he’s wrong about that…but he’s the lawyer.)
