Former SAG VP Frank Aletter

Frank Aletter

It is with deep regret that we note that Frank Aletter has passed away.  Frank was extremely dedicated to the issues affecting performers and served as a National Board member in Los Angeles for 23 years (1971 through 1992), and as SAG Vice President in 1987.  His memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 4:00 p.m. at Theatre West, 3333 Cahuenga Blvd, parallel to the 101, just north of Barham Blvd.

Frank was perhaps best known to the public as a sitcom star of the 1960s, but his career – over four decades – saw him triumph in a wide range of roles on television and the Broadway stage. He passed away Wednesday, at age 83, after a long battle with cancer.

In a strange coincidence of timing, KDOC yesterday showed a rerun of the Perry Mason episode entitled “The Case of the Skeleton’s Closet” (1963) with Frank Aletter in a leading role (he dun it, among other things).
