More United?
Variety, sucking thumbs, says after the elections, SAG and AFTRA are “more united” and more likely to go into joint negotiations.
Premature, I’d guess, but the spirit’s right.

Premature yes, but reasonable speculation.
We keep hearing about all the reasons that SAG should want a better AFTRA relationship, but all of those reasons apply to why AFTRA should want a better SAG relationship as well. I expect AFTRA will endeavor to build that better relationship –not out of any sense of responsibility towards SAG, but because of the pure logic of the situation and their responsibility to their own members to do so.
Well, SAG’s Phase 1 is still part of its constitution…so it should be the direction SAG heads. Jointly negotiation helps both unions’ membership … because it prevents the AMPTP from playing one against the other. AFTRA knows this, the AMPTP knows it, The SAG moderates know it….the only ones who ignore it is MF
Finke promised an “analysis” of the election results last Thursday. At least she’s consistent, that’s three straight SAG votes (two elections and a contract referendum) that haven’t gone the way she hoped, and that’s three straight SAG votes she promised to “analyze” and hasn’t quite gotten around to.
It was fun to hear characters curse Nikkie Finke on an episode of “Entourage” last night….but of course Nikke thinks it’s because of her power as a journalist…and not that Hollywood is making fun of her.
Dr. Giggs, I noticed the same thing last night…
I agree with you..Nikki will think of it as an award, when it was actually a snipe. Nikki will make hay while the sun shines. MFers will think the Entourage bit was praise for her tabloid. Sensible people will know the truth.
I laughed outloud
Oh, I dunno. A genre author friend of mine kills off (a doppelganger of a) friend per novel. I was offed in #3 of her career.
