Oops (updated)

We totally jumped the gun on a post earlier today. The extension of the Interactive contract has not been ratified by either SAG or AFTRA – it’s on SAG’s National Board agenda this weekend.

There is a mini controversy brewing over the interactive extension relating to what are being called “atmospheric” voices — really more like background for interactive — but that’s something we’ll get to in a bit.

There’s a lot of “oops” going around today (though ours was right up there). The official SAG release on the Industrial/Non Broadcast ratification says the term expires April 31, 2011. Which would be a pretty neat trick.

Update: In an interesting, if somewhat predictable, development, some of Membership First’s usual suspects are out calling for protests against AFTRA for the interactive deal – which is, of course, jointly negotiated, the same deal for both SAG and AFTRA. They’re silent as to any SAG involvement in the contract.
