SCAM TARGETS AFTRA-SAG CREDIT UNION MEMBERS
An urgent message from the AFTRA-SAG FCU:
Recently we became aware that someone has fraudulently established an 800 toll-free telephone number and mailing address in the name of AFTRA-SAG Federal Credit Union. The fraudulent telephone number is 800-264-9416 and the address is a PO Box in Dallas Texas.
Your personal and credit union information has NOT been compromised; however, we believe this fraudster may be utilizing the credit union’s logo and letterhead to mislead members into contacting them at the stated 800 telephone number in an attempt to obtain confidential personal and financial information with the intent to perpetrate identity theft and fraud.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL 800-264-9416 or share any confidential personal or financial information with anyone at that number. If you have already done so, contact the credit union’s Member Service Center at 800-826-6946 immediately.
The credit union has notified the appropriate federal authorities regarding this matter. If you believe that you have been a victim of identity theft, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission at 877-383-4357 and file a complaint with that agency. Please know that AFTRA-SAG Federal Credit Union takes all necessary precautions to prevent the possibility of identity theft and fraud and to keep your money safe.
This is just sad, but all too typical of the sophistication of financial crime these days.

I get phishing attacks claiming to be from IRS or FBI (FBI has been popular lately). If they’ll phish the FBI or IRS, they’ll phish anybody.
