One of Hollywood’s most in demand young actresses has died suddenly, of what’s reported to be a heart attack. Brittany Murphy, whose credits included film, television and voice work, and who had a recording career atop all that, was only 32.

She got her start in the 1930s. David O. Selznick saw her screen test, and made her a star…later marrying her. She was 1943’s Best Actress Oscar Winner for “Song of Bernadette.” Later in life she ran the Norton Simon Museum of Art in Pasadena.
